End-of-Summer Clearance

Heat up your business this summer!

We’re sorry the newsletter hasn’t been produced for a few months. Our writer was abducted by aliens and spent the summer floating on a raft in the Bahamas. She’s back, albeit a severe sunburn.

The newsletter is heating up too – our facial article, ‘Skin Survival,’ will help you to weather the new economic slow-downs with the hottest new facial treatments. And don’t forget to read our body article, ‘Body Treatments Heat Up;’ it explores a new infrared weight-loss technology that ‘burns calories at the speed of light.’  Looking for new advice about treatment options that sizzle? Read ‘The Marketplace.’ Want to keep your clients hot for you?  Read the ‘How To’ section.

And because we know you’re burning for it, we interviewed renowned Miami personal trainer Julian Nwadike who’s had great success with calorie-burning and weight-loss.

This month's article

As entrepreneurs, we’re all suffering from the economic downturn and credit crunch. But don’t worry; we’re here to help you survive it.

More than 95% of spas sell skincare products. Why? Because women will ALWAYS buy them.

More than 95% of spas sell skincare products.  Why? Because women will ALWAYS buy them.

Economists say that although clients are scaling back on the frequency of their spa visits, and especially of facial beauty treatments, they’re buying more take-home, retail beauty products.

To meet the demand, we’ve just launched an all-new line of dermatological-grade facial anti-aging and body-smoothing skincare. LPG’s facial skincare (Pro-Collagen Firming Cream, Total Eye Care Cream, Cellular Defense Cream, and Deep Wrinkle Filler Serum) smoothes lines and wrinkles to restore youthful-looking skin for a flawless, radiant complexion.  LPG’s body skincare (Aqueous Cellulite Detox Serum, Inch Loss Body Cream, Body Contouring and Firming Fluid, Adipose Cellulite Release Cream) smoothes, detoxifies and tightens sagging skin and cellulite.

We’ve also noticed sizable increase in the sale of Wellbox, the at-home Endermologie technology.  With at-home treatments for beauty, health, wellness and sport, women are pampering themselves with spa treatments from the comfort of their own homes.

Carrying the latest, most effective cosmeceuticals on the market, (especially ones that are endorsed by the makers of Endermologie) you not only enhance the results of your skin treatments, you also build another layer of trust… And you keep clients coming back for more.

Body treatments are really heating up this summer. Techno-Derm has just launched PhysioRED
Body treatments are really heating up this summer.  Techno-Derm has just launched PhysioRED, a new, FDA-listed weight-loss device that combines infrared light technology with reclined spinning.

We know you have questions, so we’ll try to answer the ones you’re asking the most…

1. What’s PhysioRED do?  PhysioRED is used for body detox, weight loss, inch loss, muscle toning, skin anti-aging beautification, cardio health and overall wellness.

2.  How does PhysioRED work? The user pedals vigorously (about 75% of their maximum heart rate), while a technician focuses 2,800 watts of infrared light (the kind commonly used for anti-aging skin treatments) on problem areas.  As the infrared light penetrates skin (up to 2-3 inches, stimulating the muscle tissues, fat cells and bodily organs), it expands capillaries. This stimulates blood circulation and softens fatty areas.  Since the combined pedaling and infrared elevates the body’s core temperature and heart rate, the metabolism is accelerated. This metabolic boost, combined with the increased circulation, is able to flush fat, toxins and waste from the body.  Results are felt and seen instantly.

3.  Is PhysioRED’s infrared safe?  Yes. Infrared 100% safe.  In fact, the sun naturally produces it. Everything on earth, including our body, radiates infrared. Our body heat is actually infrared radiation. Still not convinced? Well get this: hospitals use it to warm newborn infants.  It’s also used to relax muscle stiffness and soothe muscle spasms, joint discomfort, sprains and back pain...  Infrared has a myriad of health and wellness benefits.

4.  Can you track PhysioRED’s results? Yes.  PhysioRED is equipped with an easy-to-use, intuitive LCD screen console that monitors heart rate, speed, time, distance and calories burned.

5.  Which of my clients should use PhysioRED?  Any clients that are obese, sedentary, suffering from low back pain, aging or otherwise restricted in movement.  PhysioRED is especially great for baby-boomer aged clients, models, bodybuilders and post-heart surgery patients.

Do you offer weight loss treatments in your spa – or are you interested in PhysioRED?

The Marketplace: Expand Your Service Menu

To keep a competitive edge, start developing creative combinations of your best results-oriented aesthetic services.  LPG’s non-invasive Endermologie and Facial Fitness are ideal, because they have an extensive variety of treatment menu options, ones that appeal to highly targeted, profitable markets.  For instance, you may consider treatment packages for anti-aging, men’s services, sport rehabilitation, pre-and post-surgery, detoxification, wellness, after-baby and special occasions (weddings, high school reunions, birthdays, mother’s day, etc.).

Another way you can expand your service menu is by investing in additional professional technologies that offer multiple procedures. Be careful, though. You want to be selective.  Look for FDA-cleared, non-invasive technologies that won’t put your business – or your reputation - on the line.

LPG’s FDA-cleared technologies (like the Cellu M6 Keymodule and the Facial M6) are 100% natural and non-invasive. They have all the benefits of the professional medical spa services, only they don’t require an on-site medical director or physician.

You’ll also want to carefully evaluate your return on investment (ROI) potential.  To calculate whether or not you should lease or buy, take the total benefits, subtract your total investment, divide the total investment and multiply by 100.  That’s your ROI percentage.

Endermologie Face and Body Treatments are great, because at $100 a treatment (estimating a minimum of two treatments per day and being open 5 days per week), you’ll earn upwards of $4,000.00.  Carrying a monthly lease of approximately $1,000 (that’s for the full-service, premier face and body Cellu M6 Keymodule Technology), your ROI is $3,000.

Applying the formula, the ROI percentage on the most expensive Endermologie Technologies would be: $4,000-$1,000/4,000 x 100 = 75%.

Of course, as word-of-mouth spreads, your ROI will be driven higher.

How to?

It’s common knowledge that keeping clients is easier than gaining new ones. But first we must understand why they leave.

According to industry research, 7 out of 10 clients switch to competitors because of poor service – not because of rates.  Here’s the worst part: where a satisfied client will tell an average 8 people about positive experiences, a dissatisfied one will tell about 22.  So you’re not just losing one client - you’re losing a squadron. So how do you keep clients?

  1. Welcome Them.  The start of exceptional customer service is making clients feel welcome and wanted.  They should walk in and feel like a best friend or a long-lost family member – not a number.
  1. Appreciate Them. When the leave, thank them for their business.  Remember birthdays, send thank you cards when possible – for business, referrals, appointments… It shows you appreciate and value their business.
  1. Acknowledge Them.  Know their name, their family, their issues, their concerns… Show you recognize their unique skincare needs and they’re important to you.
  1. Intrigue Them. Humans have a short attention span. Add new menu items and feature foreign or luxe treatments (the kind that make them feel worldly and prosperous – ones they won’t forget) to keep things new and exciting. Affordable packages will convince clients to buy it.
  1. Wow Them.  Stay on top of what consumers are looking for.  Whatever the latest and greatest technologies and treatments are – you should have them.  And if you don’t - have a good reason why.
  1. Speak to Them. You can do this in two ways: 1) marketing promotions and 2) service offerings.  Your promotions should use empathetic verbiage that considers budget constraints. Be on their ‘team.’ Services should cater to stressed-out clients looking for relief – your venue should be a sanctuary from anxieties and worries.
  1. Excite Them.  It’s contagious.  Be really eager to see them, delighted to share your knowledge, and thrilled to treat them. And when they get results – be ecstatic!

This month we interviewed Julian Nwadike, a personal trainer who’s had great success using the new PhysioRED device.

Here are some of his client experiences:

Rebecca: How long have you been using PhysioRED?

Julian Nwadike: “I’ve been using it for a year now”

Rebecca: Have you reached any new markets with PhysioRED?

Julian Nwadike: “Yes, PhysioRED is really attractive to women and men in their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s because it’s really easy and comfortable - and it won’t strain their hips, knees and joints.  But I’ve also had a lot of success with models and beauty pageant contestants.  One girl who used PhysioRED before her beauty pageant lost 10 lbs. in 2 weeks.”

Rebecca: What about your regular gym-goers – how have they responded to PhysioRED?

Julian Nwadike: “People are interested in trying it. It’s a really neat-looking device… Kind-of space age. It looks fun. I recommend it for my regular body builder clients because it helps them lean out without losing muscle mass.”

Rebecca: What’s your most impressive PhysioRED client experience?

Julian Nwadike: “I used PhysioRED on a post-cardiac patient who was on beta-blocker medications.  That means his heart rate can’t go beyond 102.  PhysioRED was perfect, because infrared burns calories really quickly, without straining the heart. The client actually lost 20 lbs. in a month!  When he went in for his routine strength test, he blew the doctor away with his results. He was taken off his meds.”

Where Exfoliation Started?
Neither do we… exactly.
Where Exfoliation Started?

Recorded history credits the beautiful Egyptian pharaoh Cleopatra, who bathed in milk (i.e. lactic acid) for its skin enhancing qualities. But in ancient times, exfoliation wasn’t just for skin beautification

– it was also used to cure illness, remove evil spirits, as a rite of passage and to detox.
